Girder bridges

Bridges with spans of up to 32 m are usually formed by a spine girder with large overhangs. On intermediate supports, bridges are supported in the bridge axis and fixed in torsion at the abutments. Both continuous girders and strutted frames are currently designed. Wider bridges are formed by two or more mutually connected girder structures. Whenever possible, a frame or hinge connection of piers with the deck and its integral abutments is designed.
