Plan curved suspension and cable-stayed structure

A function of a bridge structure of span of 60 m that was formed by a plan curved structure in a radius of 32 m was verified on a model built in the scale 1:10. The deck was formed by two branches fixed into the anchor blocks. The first branch was suspended on its inner edge on stay cables, the second branch was suspended on its inner edge on a suspension cable. Both decks that were formed by a steel pipe and concrete slab were post-tensioned by external cables situated in the handrails. The model was tested for several positions of the live load, at the end it was tested for an ultimate load.

In collaboration with the Department of Concrete and Masonry Structures, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Brno University of Technology.
