Moravian-Silesian Research Library, Ostrava

Design

The research library has two underground and nine elevated floors that are indirectly supported by three irregularly arranged concrete cores. The elevated floors, which have irregular plans, form eight floor structures – bridges with a span length of 19 m. The length of the cantilevers is 7.8 m. The floors are formed by prestressed floor beams that indirectly support prestressed joists.
