For roofing of a football stadium two membrane structures from prestressed lightweight concrete were analyzed. The first one has a circular plan of a radius of 200 m, the second one has an elliptical plan 220 x 180 m. The roofs were assembled of precast slab members suspended on cables. The roof stiffness was given by post-tensioning of the cables situated in joints between the precast members. For a design of the elliptical roofs a method that enables economical design of all structural members was developed.
