Plan curved suspension structure supported or suspended on an arch

A function of a bridge structure of span of 69.55 m that was formed by a plan curved structure in a radius of 37.5 m was verified on a model built in the scale 1:10. The deck was formed by two branches fixed into the anchor blocks. The first branch was supported by struts protruding from the inclined arch, the second branch was suspended on its inner edge on the inclined arch. Both decks were formed by a steel pipe and a concrete slab. The model was tested for several positions of the live load, at the end it was tested for an ultimate load.

In collaboration with the Department of Concrete and Masonry Structures, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Brno University of Technology.
